I have spent most of my life traveling and this place was a first. This is a medium sized family-friendly resort that rates a SUPER A+! I felt like I was coming home with a front desk staff that treated me like I had been there a dozen times! Easy to find rooms where the best surprise was waiting. The standard room was HUGE! TWO queen-sized beds wtih lots of room to walk around, a super-sized flat panel HD-TV in the mountains of NH! How do they do that? Housekeeping is worth a mention because I have walked into rooms in Marriots and Wyndhams that were not as clean as my room at the Indian Head. Do not expect to find anything but a magnificently clean and well stocked room- complete with a baby fridge! Full Dining room service was also OUTSTANDING with a young, well-dressed staff who were 'down home country' polite and a refreshing change from the big city snoots. Hotel guests and public passerbys were equally welcome. Don't tell anyone, but the meal plan here is an incredible bargain and the food ranks 4 or 5 stars!
The Indian Head does NOT try to be something it is not. It is a wonderful roadside inn that started in the 1930s as a collection of cabins and now has rooms in whatever category the picky traveler could want. BUT- what is MOST IMPORTANT is that their rates remain REASONABLE to BARGAIN!!!!
They have an ultra clean indoor and separate outdoor pool and hot tub that never seemed crowded. We visited on a July weekend when the house was full with a large wedding party, two group tours and a good smattering of families of all sizes.
We never waited for a table or found the giant gift shop with more than 2 or 3 folks waiting at the check out.
There are no bellmen at the Indian Head . . . because they don't need them. I'm sure you could ask for help and get it with a smile. This is a place where you can park and not get winded wheeling your little (or big) Samsonite to your room. I was BLOWN AWAY at the quality of the place from the breakfast buffet omelette station manned by two friends from Macedonia to the smart evening show with music targeted to an adult (not acid rocker) crowd.
I can be hyper critical and I melted at this place. Everything was so laid back and perfect . . . the name is unique and it is a true "one-of-a-kind" treasure that's only 2 sips of gas away from
Boston. With all the free and low priced attractions in the area, this place gets my vote as NUMBER ONE! You WILL NOT be disappointed. Try it!

the new remodeling... We come over often year round and enjoy swimming outside in the winter!
