Is summer flying by as fast for you as it is for me? It feels like March was last week, April didn't happen, May was three days ago and June was yesterday, so I'm having a hard time believing August is literally tomorrow.
Like many summers before, the plans we had in June got pushed back to July, which got pushed back to August, and now that August is finally here finding the time to plan a getaway can be a little stressful.
Lucky for you, there are still plenty of weekends (or week days) left to come visit your home away from home. But with so much to do in the area, I've created this little guide of a few featured activities that you and your family could do this weekend in the White Mountains.
Pedal Boating on Shadow Lake
Since you might have just spent a few hours driving to Lincoln, you may want to spend your first night in town relaxing at the resort. Grab some dinner from the Profile Room then head outside to explore the beauty around you.
You can walk around the lake, go swimming in the pool, browse the gift shop and so much more.
One of our favorite things to do at the resort is jump on a pedal boat and just float around Shadow Lake.
If you like to fish, bring your along your fishing pole. Our lake is stocked with trout and some are even tagged. Catch one of those and win a cash prize!
Hike the Franconia Ridge
5-10 minute drive to the trailhead from Indian Head Resort
Read our blog on what to expect here
One of the most beautiful hikes in the world is right at your fingertips! Spend a day in nature by hiking the Indian Head Resort's beautiful backdrop, the Franconia Ridge.
Hit three 4,000+ foot peaks in one go on this 8.6 mile journey. Don't worry about it being too long, this 7-8 hour hike is well worth it for the 360 degree stunning views from the peaks and along the trail.
I hiked the ridge just over a week ago and it was amazing! You can check out my blog here for must-have supplies and what to expect along the way.
The Flume Gorge
Advanced reservation required - book your tickets here.
1 minute drive from Indian Head Resort
Before you head home from your weekend getaway, make sure you visit the Flume Gorge.
The Flume Gorge is one of the natural wonders of the White Mountains. Weave through the 70-90 foot gorges on this 1.5 hour exploration and experience Mother Nature at her finest!
The gorge is open from 9 am - 5 pm daily, and this is a hot ticket attraction. Tickets sell out just about every day, so be sure to plan ahead and book your tickets here before you visit.
With so many other attractions in the area, it's very hard to fit everything into one weekend. I'll be back next week with some more featured activities you can't miss on your next trip to the beautiful White Mountains.
What is your favorite White Mountain attraction? Do you have a yearly tradition? Let us know in the comments!
